Summertime calls for softer scents

summer scents tipsMany readers asked how to make their fragrances less powerful during summer’s heat. As a matter of fact, maintaining your signature scent during summer months can be some kind of a challenge: if you don’t want to give up your wintery fragrance and switch to a summery one, you either tend to put on too little and it won’t be smelled, or to put on a lot - thinking the sweating will make it fade quicker - and you will knock people out (and not in a good way).

Here is some summer’s scent etiquette:

  • Spritz your hair with an alcohol-free perfume before styling.
It will lock into the styling products and leave you with a subtle aroma.
  • Mist your favorite fragrance into unscented body talcum powder.
Create your own scented body powder then rub it onto your torso, arms and legs after the shower.
  • Skip the fragrance and opt for a body lotion of the same fragrance name.
Body lotions linger onto your body for a long time without ever turning too strong because of the heat.
  • Finally, a tip from the pros at Perfume Emporium:
Blends of floral and citrus-based fragrances are recommended for summertime, casual and daywear.
Spicy, woody or warm amber-based fragrances are traditionally favorites for wintertime, evening and special occasions.

Kenzo RyokoRyoko is a fragrance created by Kenzo for travellers and globe-trotters.
Ryoko means travel in Japanese, and it consists of pocket-sized fragrance pebbles housing 4 major Kenzo scents: FLOWERBYKENZO, SUMMERBYKENZO, L’EAU PAR KENZO pour femme, & L’EAU PAR KENZO pour homme.

The amazingly alluring packaging - bean-shaped colorful pebbles suspended in clear plastic casing - has been designed by genious designer Karim Rashid - the same who created the Kenzo Amour futuristic bottles. Doesn’t Ryoko make all your other fragrance bottles look prehistoric?
Ça va sans dire, the ultra light pebbles are airport friendly and can be easily taken on your next travel or flight.

Expect Ryoko to launch at the end of July, but to be available only through the fall.
