Bras for Charity?

Did you ever think of donating your bra? No? Think again.
We’re not suggesting we all go braless, but as a matter of fact, most women have way too many bras that just sit in their lingerie drawers week after week and never get worn (I for one, have dozens of those). Whether it’s a certain style that just doesn’t work or they’re simply the wrong size - if those bras are in good conditions, why letting them sit in a drawer, when you could put them to good use?
Gigi’s Closet, a webiste that sells exclusive, sexy lingerie, has created an interesting charity campaing called “Gigi’s Bras for Charity”. They collect all your unused and gently worn bras and donate them to women in need who may not be able to afford properly fitting bras.
You mail your unused or gently worn bras to Gigi’s Bras for Charity, and the staff collects then expedites the donations to the surrounding Goodwill facilitates of Bucks County, PA. Funds raised by the non-profit organization go directly towards job training, job placement and education within the community.
A nice incentive to do some good, is that you can actually use the “free return shipping” option for Gigi’s Closet customers to send bras to the boutique, so you don’t even have to pay for shipping.
Tonight, sort out your lingerie drawer, and check how many unused bras you’ve got… then think about donating again.

Btw, since Gigis’ Closet is running a bra sale, you could get a new bra with a 15% discount (with coupon code: brasale) , and donate an old one. ;)

Havaianas Beauty Splash

limited-edition HavaianasThe flip-flop summer staples just got an exclusive makeover in collaboration with the Saks Fifth Avenue cosmetic team.
And what a makeover! Trish McEvoy, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier (possibly the 3 most celebrated women in beauty) each designed a pair of limited-edition Havaianas. During the month of June, Saks Fifth Avenue will be offering its customers exclusive Havaianas flip flops designed by these three famed makeup artists.

Trish McEvoy wanted to bring to her sandal design the feeling of a walk on the beach—her favorite way to relax. “My colors this season brighten your complexion and call to mind the deep blues of the ocean, the pearlescent shades inside a seashell, and the glitter of the sand-taking you on an instant vacation.”

Laura Mercier decided to fill her canvas with kisses showcasing the new lipstick shades in her summer assortment, saying “A comfortable sandal should be as comfortable as wearing the lipstick on your lips.”

Bobbi Brown created a pair that reflects the spirit of summer- keeping it simple, enjoying every moment, and of course, and always looking fabulous in the process. “The beach is where I go to unwind with my family, so I keep things easy by wearing sunscreen, simple makeup and a fun pair of flip-flops.”

Wait! There’s more: they will be sold for $15 and all proceeds from the sale of each Havaianas will benefit charity:water - that helps bring clean, safe drinking water to communities in Africa, India, and South America with water wells and other water projects.

Now’s your chance to do something good while feeling all summery.

Natalie Portman x TeCasan

Natalie Portman x TeCasan

Natalie Portman has just launched her footwear line at TeCasan in New York.
What’s peculiar about this shoe collection, is that it’s 100% Vegan, which is rare, and a good thing.
The footwear collection is introduced by such words of wisdom:”As a vegan, it’s been challenging finding designer shoes made of alternative materials. This collection offers a great selection without compromising quality or style.”

Strangely enough, what’s even more peculiar, is that miss Portman herself is not quite a vegan, nor a vegetarian. Yet she seems to be when it comes to finding the right pair of shoes.
Anyhow I like the concept of the vegan footwear, it really is a difficult task finding shoes not made of leather.
Moreover, all of Natalie’s proceeds will be donated to the Nature Conservancy, a non profit that works tirelessly to protect ecologically fragile lands and bodies of water. Well done!

The footwear is available at the TeCasan boutique located at 382 West Broadway, NYC.
