Dove’s real women, are they real?

iconiconIt’s been the best thing that happened in beauty ads since, like, ever. Those curvy, confident, good looking women all smiles from the billboards, magazines and tv screens, stating that all women, with real curves, real flaws, are beautiful.
I believe the campaing has indeed had a great impact for women’s self-esteem, but now someone’s stating it’s not all so real.

In an interview with The New Yorker magazine, entitled “Pixel Perfect”, Pascal Dangin - the premier retoucher of fashion photographs - makes it clear he worked his magic on the real women bodies: “The Dove ad campaign that proudly featured lumpier-than-usual “real women”, it turned out that it was a Dangin job. “Do you know how much retouching was on that?” he asked. “But it was great to do, a challenge, to keep everyone’s skin and faces showing the mileage but not looking unattractive.”” (source: newyorker.com).

Spring break is around the corner, and some of us, the lucky ones, will spend a week or so on golden beaches under a warm sun. Yet, just before leaving, our bodies are still covered in big sweaters and trendy coats that hide what’s there to hide. So, are you ready for your spring break vacation?

My solution this year is the brand new Total Body Lift Double Edition by Clarins: it’s a proven slimming product for stubborn areas that contours, firms and reshapes those legs, hips and thighs we’ve so comfortably kept hidden all winter long.
While slimming down fatty deposits and reducing cellulite, it also improves the appearance of skin - you don’t want slimmer legs that look saggy and “emptied”. Au contraire, the skin is lifted anf visibly firmer.
