If you happen to be in the NY City subway, and see a car filled with identical couples, don’t question your eyesight or mental sanity. Rather, enjoy the ride as you are travelling with a live art performance happening right beside you.
Improv Everywhere agents recruit identical twins to create an unusual human mirror inside the car of a subway, thus creating a live form of art for viewers and passagers. No explanations are given, to ensure each and everyone has his or her own version of what happened.
Improv Everywhere is, at its core, about having fun. Charlie Todd, the founder of Improv Everywhere tells us: “Our missions are a fun source of entertainment for the participants, those who happen to see us live, and those who read the website. We get satisfaction from coming up with an awesome idea and making it come to life. In the process we bring excitement to otherwise unexciting locales and give strangers a story they can tell for the rest of their lives. We’re out to prove that a prank doesn’t have to involve humiliation or embarrassment; it can simply be about making someone laugh, smile, or stop to notice the world around them.”
