Mac Hello Kitty Collection
This is supposed to be like last year’s ever-so-lovely MAC x Fafi collection, or the previous Barbie collection. In other words, it’s supposed to be magnificently cute, but it ain’t.
There is no doubt this collection will be a huge commercial success, but we at NBZ are all a bit disappointed by both the packaging design and the makeup colors’ choices of this collection after seeing them in person.
On the outside, the collection looks typically MAC-black with simple Hello Kitty images traced in white. And, the grey/white muddling drawings in the backhground make the whole design A) distracting, B) not so cute, C) not Hello Kitty at all.
We’re feeling as if the big makeup companies are taking our generation’s childhood myths and exploiting them badly. The same thing happened with the Smurfette collection by Too Faced (reviewed in January’s issue of NBZ mag).
When it comes to the makeup colors, there is a lot of purple, green, blue, and brown for eyes and lips. Do these colors represent the dreamy, Kawaii world of Hello Kitty?
Let us know your thoughts.
