Some collaborations are more unique than others. This one, which sees the jewelry designer Judith Ripka and nail polish guru Essie Weingarten of Essie unusual duo working together, is probably the first of its kind and we just love it!

Mrs. Weingarten, founder and president of Essie, is set to launch a never-seen-before nail color collection in collaboration with by jewelry designer Judith Ripka.
What makes this collab a really exciting one is that not only each bottle of polish will be infused with diamond dust, but 3 bottles will have an extra-extra special “gift with purchase”: one will contain a diamond, a second a sapphire and a third an emerald that will be perfectly usable after a polish removal bath.

“What’s not to love about buying a $15 bottle of nail polish that might have a diamond, sapphire or emerald in it?” said Weingarten.
Of the collaboration — Weingarten’s first to be broadly distributed — she said, “Judith loves diamonds as much as I do, and she is known for her beautiful jewelry designs with precious and semiprecious stones — so the tie-in made sense.”

The Essie Loves Diamonds Limited Edition Collection will be available starting August ’09 and will only include 3 very limited edition shades:
Put a Ripka Ring on It, a soft pink;
Heart My JR Jewels, a deep burgundy;
Queen of Hearts, a true red.

So why being infused with diamond dust makes these nail polishes so special?
Because it not only gives the nail polish a soft luminous glow sans the glitter, but also makes it adhere more strongly to nails therefore making it even more long-lasting.
